As a part of the City of Long Beach Peace Week activities, Mayor Bob Foster, Councilman Dee Andrews, and distinguished community members will be leading the 6th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Peace March. The candlelight march will take place on Saturday, January 12th at 5:00 PM, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Avenue.
In an effort to lift the consciousness of the community about Dr. King’s legacy and principles, Councilman Dee Andrews, the Peace Week Committee, City of Long Beach Department of Health & Human Services, Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine, and the City of Long Beach Human Dignity Program are promoting more than a week of activities designed to unify the community. The candlelight peace march is an opportunity for the community to come together to promote the increase of peace throughout our neighborhoods.
This is the sixth year that the City of Long Beach has come together to promote this annual walk, spear-headed by 6th District Councilman Dee Andrews. “This Peace March provides the community an opportunity to stand united. Walking together, we represent peace, love, and understanding, which is the true meaning of community”, said Councilman Dee Andrews. “I hope to see all the churches, families, schools, and community organizations at the march”, continued Andrews.
The march will begin promptly at 5:00 pm, on January 12th at King Park, 1950 Lemon Avenue. There is free parking across the street from the park at Long Beach City College. For more information call the Office of Councilman Dee Andrews at (562) 570-6816 or log on to www.longbeach.gov/district 6

This is meant to be a fun event, so we will take players of all abilities. If you don’t want to golf, yet
you want to be part of the fun, we will need volunteers to help run the contests. As a volunteer, we
will provide you a meal, however, you will have to pay for the DryFit shirt.
